Types of Sessions

There are a variety of different styles, types and techniques of massage, reflexology, etc. utilized by massage therapists. I have provided a description of some of the modalities we offer. All descriptions are for educational purposes only and not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease or condition. Also information, massage, reflexology, IonCleanse, therapies and sessions are not intended to replace your Medical Doctor, treat, diagnose or cure any disease or condition.

Therapeutic Massage

Many different techniques are used. The Therapist and the client will discuss what techniques may best suit the client before the session. That may or may not include a small amount of Deep Tissue Massage designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.Therapeutic massage can be performed without deep tissue massage if that is the clients preference.[2]
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.[2]
Trigger point therapy is used on trigger points or trigger sites described as hyper-irritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. Trigger point practitioners believe that palpable nodules are small contraction knots[ambiguous] and a common cause of pain.

Therapeutic Massage may also include extra attention to problem areas, steamed towels, hot/cold packs and can include relaxation/ swedish massage.

Reflexology

Reflexology uses the thumbs, fingers etc. to work the reflexes that coordinate to organs and other parts of the body. It is said to increase circulation and nerve supply to these areas. Reflexology can be applied to the hands, feet etc. Although the feet are said to be the most beneficial because the reflexes are closer to the surface on the feet. Reflexology has also been used to relieve stress.

Ion-Cleanse

The Ion - Cleanse or the Vitality Enhancement Machine is used to purify and cleanse the body through ions. Because of their charge they are chemically reactive and can make changes in our body just like they do in nature. You may have experienced ions in nature when walking along the beach or at a waterfall. Call to see if you are a candidate for the Ion-Cleanse.
